About Us
As a little girl, Jamie Whitley Smith loved playing in her Grandmother's curio cabinet. She unwrapped the delicate bone china from its protective paper, set the dining room table, stood back and marveled at its stunning beauty - the intricate gold floral pattern layering gracefully with crystal goblets and sterling silver. At the age of 5 she discovered her love for all things "fancy." At the beginning of her college years, Jamie studied interior design and further developed her appreciation of creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. Spending a summer in Italy grew her love of original artwork. Twenty years after setting that first table, Jamie and her husband Charlie decided to change their career paths and embark on fulfilling her dream. That dream became a reality May of 2008, and The Square Cupboard was established.

Now the dream has expanded into several areas--travel bags, art, jewelry, paper goods, baby gifts, gourmet foods, and home decor.

One of Jamie's favorite aspects of owning the business is helping the engaged couples as they choose, from the vast array of items, those things which will help make their new home really theirs, one with a personal touch. Witnessing the establishment of their own traditions is always a thrill for her.
